Since its establishment, Mount Ridley P – 12 College (MRC) has experienced extraordinary demand for student places, receiving more student enrolment applications than it has the capacity to enrol.  Consequently, the Department of Education and Training (DET) has implemented a student enrolment management plan to support the College in continuing to meet demand.

Where there are insufficient places at a school for all students who seek entry, DET has established set criteria under its state-wide Placement Policy.  As such, MRC utilises the following principles in order of precedence when enrolling students:

  1. Students for who MRC is the designated neighbourhood government school in accordance with the student’s permanent address. (DET guidelines have set out our College’s designated neighbourhood area/zone – specific details of which can be found below).
  2. Students with a sibling at the same permanent residence who are attending the College at the same time. (It should be noted that MRC has been designated separate enrolment zones for primary and secondary aged students).
  3. Students who reside nearest to the College. (This is due to the North West Regional Director setting an enrolment restriction on the College).
  4. Students seeking enrolment on specific curriculum grounds.
  5. All other students in order of closeness of their home to the College.

Designated Neighbourhood Area/Zone

In line with all Victorian government schools, DET has assigned a designated neighbourhood area/zone to our College.  Students residing in this zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address. Findmyschool.vic.gov.au hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones.  To visit the site, see:  www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au

In addition, information on DET’s Placement Policy can be found at:  http://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/principals/spag/participation/Pages/placement.aspx

Please note that as a Prep to Year 12 College, MRC has been designated with two separate enrolment zones for its primary and secondary aged students.
